NATURE AND CULTURE TOUR

BARONG DANCE � The dance represents a symbol  of eternal fight between good and bad spirit.  Entrance to view the dance is Rp.50.000,- 

MENGWI � We will visit TAMAN AYUN ROYAL TEMPLE. As its name suggest, the temple is very beautiful.  In Balinese, �taman� means garden and �ayun� means beautiful.   

Built in the seventeenth century, the temple served as the family temple of the Mengwi dynasty, whose kingdom survived until the late 1800s. The temple is famous for its exquisite wooden merus, or pagoda-like shrines. The temple�s structure reflects the Balinese Hindu concepts.  

Members of the royal families and the local Mengwi people do their worshipping and conduct ceremonies together at this temple.  There is a shrine for their ancestors (Paibon). This temple is sanctified by Mengwi royal family and its people. The odalan ceremony takes place every six months � it is anniversary festival of the temple.   

BEDUGUL � On the way, we will stop for a while to see the amazing scenery of terraced rice fields in Pacung. In Bedugul, there is the opportunity to visit CANDI KUNING MARKET, a nice and clean market where many people sell various items such as spices, vegetables, flowers and fruits.

Afterwards, we go to Ulun Danu Temple (in LAKE BERATAN) and SUBAK TEMPLE (Temple for the farmer).  The Ulun Danu Temple is dedicated to Devi Danu, goddess of the lake, and Wisnu, god of water.  The adjacent Subak Temple is dedicated to the goddess of rice, Devi Sri.  Both temples were built around the eleventh century.  Today, worshippers (usually in groups) visit the temples to pray.  The temples are visited for worship almost everyday of the year.  Rituals are held before planting or after harvesting. 

Near the Subak temple, there is also a Buddhist temple surrounded by beautiful beds of tropical flowers. 

Bedugul offers more fresh air then any other tourist spots in Bali.  Lying at altitude of around 1200 meters above the sea level, it is always slightly foggy looking down, which makes the view around Bedugul villages even more beautiful.  

Puras/Temples

MUNDUK WATERFALL �  On the way to the destination we can stop to feed the wild monkeys and enjoy the great panorama of LAKE BUYAN.  Take caution when taking pictures with the cheeky and cute monkeys (whilst they are friendly, they can also be mischievous at times).  Along the way we can see LAKE TAMBLINGAN as well.  In Munduk, we walk on foot less then 500 meters (on a descending trail), and immerse ourselves into coffee, clove and other plantations. 

TANAH LOT TEMPLE (Land on the ocean temple) � This temple was built in 1489 by Dang Hyang Niratha priest on his pilgrimage past the south coast of Bali. This temple is dedicated to the God of the Ocean (Sang Hyang Baruna).  It is one of the nine directional public temples (Nawa Sanga)
